Calculation details

Reason employment ended

The result is an estimate and may differ depending on the contract, wage components and reason for termination. To review your actual case or claim your entitlements, see our labor law service.

How is the end-of-service award calculated?

Under Article 84 of the Labor Law: half a month’s wage for each of the first five years and a full month’s wage for each year after, based on the last wage, with partial years pro-rated. On an ordinary resignation, Article 85 sets the share: one third for two to five years of service, two thirds for more than five and under ten, and the full award at ten years or more. Article 87 gives the full award in specific cases, including leaving work because of force majeure, and a female employee ending her contract within six months of marriage or three months of giving birth.

FAQ

What is ESB in Saudi Arabia?

ESB is the end-of-service benefit (مكافأة نهاية الخدمة) the employer pays when employment ends: under Article 84 of the Labor Law, half a month’s wage for each of the first five years and a full month’s wage for each year after, based on the last wage.

Am I entitled to the award if I resign?

For an ordinary resignation, yes, once you have at least two consecutive years of service, at the shares set by Article 85; the calculator applies them automatically. In the Article 87 cases, such as force majeure or a female employee resigning within the set periods after marriage or childbirth, the full award is due.

Which wage is the award based on?

The last wage, under Article 84. How some allowances and commissions count can depend on the contract, so the result is an estimate.

What if my entitlements are not paid?

Start with an amicable settlement request with the Ministry of Human Resources, then the Labor Court if the settlement does not resolve it. You can send the calculator result and your case details for review.
